The Backwater Gospel – A Macabre Animated Short

I don’t know why I bother beating about the bush anymore; why I don’t simply rename this site to Happy Horror McVicerate’s Abjection Emporium. I don’t remember the last time I posted something lighthearted and uplifting. I’m not totally convinced I ever have.

That said, here’s a wonderfully macabre short, animated film entitled The Backwater Gospel from the guys at The Animation Workshop. Stunning use of illustration and CGI as well as a pleasantly eerie soundtrack by Sons of Perdition.

Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

The Creepiest Video On Youtube

It’s Friday and the first beer has cracked. The sun is going down, the air is cooling and the weekend lies ahead, all shiny and sparkling beyond the setting sun.

Here’s the creepiest video on Youtube.

Heidi Klum’s Horror Show

Right, so things have calmed down and I should be able to get back to more regular posting now. How best do I celebrate this? By giving you Heidi Klum as imagined by the world’s greatest serial killers – inside out.

The King is Back… Again: The Shining Sequel

Right, so Stephen King has got to be one of the most prolific writers on the planet, and barely a meal time goes by without him releasing a novel, novella, Kindle book, online miniseries, short story, Chappies packert, TV script, cereal box or some insightful, bathroom graffiti. Getting excited every time King releases something is like making eye contact across a devil’s three-way; after a while, everyone’s feeling awkward except the person doing all the work.

GEEK OUT: “John Dies at the End” – First Trailer!

So any of you out there who are avid Cracked.com readers will know what I’m talking about. Their senior editor, David Wong, went and got a book published. Somewhere along the line, Paul Giamatti decided to turn it into a movie. Between the guy who spends his days trying to systematically break down every idea, system and moral structure you deem safe and stable in this world and that creepy assassin from Shoot ‘Em Up, nose-bleed levels of WTFness and hilarity are bound to ensue.

Convulsing Devil-Child Swears Before a Bevy of Dancing Mormons That He Will Not Wet His Bed Tonight

What words can describe it? It’s like a miniature Meatloaf is channeling the spirit of Linda Blair during an epileptic seizure while a hunchback Jesus lopes across the playground at a Mormon primary school, trying to entice children into his Happy Van.

All this from a band who recorded twenty-one studio albums and sold in the tens of millions. God bless you, The Kelly Family.

(Thanks to my buddy, @mattcredible, for putting me onto this)

Giant Eagles a Threat to Scottish Children

I shit you not. This, apparently, is an actual concern.

Over a hundred years ago, the Giant Sea Eagles were hunted to extinction across Scotland. The reasons are still a little unclear, but we suspect it may have had something to do with how villagers prefer not to live in an area populated by eight-foot, bloodthirsty, coiled springs of razor wire, horror and death.

However, an attempt has been made to reintroduce the Sea Eagle to Scotland, a decision tantamount only to sitting down to tea with Sweeney Todd, grumbling over your five ‘o-clock stubble and then boasting about how delicious you are wrapped in pastry.

The Walking Dead: Season 2 First Look

I don’t have much to say about this beside, “I’m so flipping excited!”

It feels like we’ve been waiting for years. I can’t believe there’s still another three months to go…
