OMFG It’s A Gun That Shoots Skin

It’s a skin gun. Literally. The name isn’t some clever marketing ploy or cheeky metaphor. Googling it won’t surprise you with sixty-four pages of questionable content. Neither is it the curious, Southern cousin of the Flesh Light, the Googling of which should be severely dissuaded until you find yourself in a position to fully peruse all sixty-four pages at your leisure. It is, however, a ray of hope for people facing months of painful burn therapy and skin grafts, not to mention an awesome band name.

Galaxy Nexus VS iPhone 4S: One-All So Far

As many of you know, I have a love/hate relationships with cellphones – I hate not owning the things that I love, a category easily defined as ‘anything that allows me to browse Cracked.com while doing 140kmph on the N2 highway at 2:15AM somewhere between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay’.
I am a man of simple needs

However, as the powers that be have for so long put such delightful gadgets well outside the reach of my wallet, I am forced to work out my perpetual feelings of angst and despair in passive-aggressive rants online. Therefore, in my continued hate-affair with all things cell-phone, I bring you the skivvy on the up-coming Samsung Galaxy Nexus and how it compares to several of its major competitors-to-be. Most specifically, the iPhone 4S.

Anti-Pirate Laser Beams – We Have These Now!

Note: This is not an actual pic of the laser... eish

Do you know how long I have had to put up with people telling me that weaponized laser-beams were the things of science fiction? That the closest I’d ever get to owning a death-ray would be taping a laser pointer to a magnifying glass? That the Death Star was a model, filmed against a green screen on a sound stage? Well, suck it, haters! The laser-beam is here, and we’re using it to set fire to pirates.

How do you make this any cooler? Well, you bolt it to a 25mm machine-gun cannon, of course.

Find the F@cker that Filtched Your Phone

Getting your house broken into is one thing; security systems aside, there’s not really anything you can do about it. The South African adage long ago became, “If they want in, they’ll get in,” – an unfortunate truism in our country. Getting your pocket picked, however, is just friggin embarrassing. Know that some bottom-dwelling, greasy-palmed, purse plucker had his or her hand in your pocket, fiddling around scant inches from your happy place, is borderline insulting. If someone’s diving wrist-deep into your crotch-pocket, fishing for a pay-off, the least they could offer is a gratitude tickle.

For you Smart phone owners out there, however, there’s some good news. It seems that there are several ways to track you phone after it’s been nabbed.

Steve Jobs Retires Fro… oh wait, I don’t give a crap

So Steve Jobs has retired. Whoop-di friggin doo. It’s not like this comes as a surprise to anyone. The guy’s received more health warnings than a BAT rep. The simple fact that he’s remained alive this far, let alone running one of the most successful companies of all time, is testament to the awesome power of the iHeart happily thumping along inside his chest cavity.

Uncle Sam Wants You To Drink Mountain Dew and F*ck With The Russians

Dust off your hacking gloves, that absurd adolescent dream of yours is about to come true.

You know the one; you’re kicking back in your Pro-Gamer Easy Slouch Boomrocket X5000 cushioned stool, taking a relaxed scroll through the SARS database, chopping here, changing there – you know, acting the noble cyber Robin Hood – before swinging ‘round to the FBI Internal Coms and Data Repository to learn a little more about the latest Bigfoot-piloted, super-conducting, inter-stellar Prius, when suddenly thirteen men is suits are smashing down your door and before you can hit the ‘Nuke’ button on the modified microwave standing next to your comp tower, Alec Baldwin has grabbed your wrist and said; “Son, I’m not here to arrest you. I’m here to offer you a job.”

New These Creases Article - Vodacan’t: The Ball-Numbing Black Hole of Vodacom Customer Service

So, I’ll be the first to admit that I sit on the bottom rung when it comes to mobile gadgetry. Shiny things entice me, but my need to reaffirm my existence and temporarily stave off those pesky thanatic impulses via the wanton purchases of things that go ‘beep’ is constantly at odds with my more basic and all-together more irritating need for constant sustenance. And since bread is so expensive these days, my desire for upper echelon mobile devices is repeatedly snubbed in favour of a yummy pint at Rafiki’s and maybe some chips.

MTN Pulls Thumb on Behalf of Smartphone Users

So this may not SOUND like the most exiting news ever, but for all those people, such as myself, who are growing sick of Vodacom but don’t feel there’s a viable alternative, this is a candle in the dark.

MTN has just announced the trial launch of their faster LTE (Long Term Evolution) network. Such networks support hi-speed wireless services, and the move represents a major attempt to pull thumb on behalf of MTN in order to meet the growing demands of smartphone users.
