What better way to start a Thursday than with a little bit of ultra-violence?
This here is Nemesis. Nemesis is not a nice person. Nemesis comes form a long line of not-nice people, in particular, his father, who used to hunt teenagers in Tokyo for sport. This got daddy all body-bagged and Nemesis pissed.
“That inner-peace is in here somewhere.” |
Mark Millar originally promoted his comic by asking the question, “What if Batman were the Joker?” Reportedly, he originally wanted to announce, “What if Batman was a cunt?” but apparently there were legal issues surround the use of the word ‘Batman’ and in the end he just resorted to punching a reporter in the face with a fist of bloody meat (two thirds of this story are true).
Driven by similar yet converse reasons to Batman, Nemesis cuts a bloody swath through the law enforcement ranks of the world as he seeks revenge for the death of his father.
I won’t spoil anything, because I haven’t read it yet, but I hear the whole thing ends with a group hug and thirteen months of staggered art therapy. Nemesis discovers a wellspring of love and a passion for finger painting.
The comic received varied reviews, but this video by Richard Payne of Creative Immortal – a mash-up of the comic panels and popular dub-step track ‘Badman Silence’ – has seen nothing but gold. Be warned, it is not for the faint of heart.

This should be made into a movie. Preferably not starring Colin Farrell or Orlando Bloom (unless they are starring as victims that get a baton through the eye socket).
